      RaceChip Installation Update

Just wanted folks to know that I'm coming up on month 4 having installed a RaceChip with no problems to report. No warning lights, no breakdown in performance, no errors thrown, nothing. Nothing but miles of smiles. To refresh memories the installation is on a 2019 Volvo V90 R Design T5 . Still lovin' it.

For those with a T6 motor, I recently installed it on my 2019 S60 T6 Polestar and I'm very disappointed. I own a Dragy GPS Performance meter and I only saw a 0.15 of a second improvement on the 0-60 times (Map 6). That improvement quickly disappeared after a third full throttle run. After that, the car was pulling so much timing in third and fourth gear that it felt considerably slower than stock.

I don't think I can recommend this product even at the current discounted price. I removed it after just a few runs, not only was the motor overwhelmed but also the transmission was struggling to keep up. I was really hoping that this product would deliver as advertised but it is definitely not ready for the T6 motor. I guess I was naive, this thing only taps into the boost pressure and manifold pressure sensors. How can it know anything about what really is going on with the motor? I guess I gave them the benefit of the doubt...

Makes sense - Racechip doesn't make a tune specific to the T6 P* (T6 only). Also, Racechip doesn't map engine RPM to avoid overboosting at high RPM (leads to pulled timing).

Have you considered Vaitrix? They make a tune specific to the T6 P* and read the crankshaft position sensor (three sensor input - MAP, TMAP, CRANKSHAFT).

I would be interested in seeing the Long Term Fuel Trim and Short Term Fuel Trim data for the Polestar T6 with the RaceChip installed. My SWAG would be that the RaceChip relies on Volvo's ECM safeguards to "see" what's going on with the rest of the engine world. Would also be interested to hear from T6 Polestar owners that have tried the RaceChip in all of the Map settings. The reports that I've read so far have leaned towards the upper mapping programs but don't mention lower mapping results. Disclaimer: I am not now nor have I ever been associated with RaceChip in any way, shape, or form. My comments on MY results with the RaceChip are my own and are without influence (other than the speed governor sitting in the passenger's seat). As always YMMV.
