I used to get the same amount of oil consumption (maybe just a bit less) when I was using 0W-30. But ever since I changed to 5W40 (Motul 8100), the oil consumption is close to 0 now.

Unfortunately thatís not my experience. Iím burning about a quart every 3000 miles. It seems to burn faster towards the end of my 3000 mile service interval. It burns about 50% of the quart in the last 1000 miles. Iím guessing itís turbo seals due to it not smoking/smelling on startups and only after driving for a while. When I rebuild, Iíll likely put a billet 6+6 wheel in.

Yeah, definitely add a billet wheel if you're doing some work on the turbo. I did the same a few years ago. I installed a billet 11 blade. Spools quick and holds 24psi no problem

Iím hoping to be close to FBO just to reliably hold power when I upgrade (and because i like how it looks lol), but I likely wonít go over 22psi. As for tuners, Iím thinking of Hilton. Any opposition/suggestions?

It's a bit like asking for oil recommendations. They all seem to work fine - Hilton / Steve / Gustav

I've heard of way more issues from Hilton tuned cars than Steve or Gustav

Imo steve wins for anyone who is reasonably close to Ben's just because it can be done in person. Likewise for Gustav.

Interesting. So do I just make an appointment with Ben? Or is there a way I should contact Steve directly?

After hearing Gustav has been MIA and the previous issues with Hilton tunes, I'll be going with Steve's tune through Ben when I go Stage 2. I went up there a few years back to hang out for a day. Lots of knowledge up there about P2's.

Gustav isnt MIA...I talk to him about every other day. Sometimes when your data logging, he can take a day or two to respond. He works a normal job and tunes for a lot of people. Was in process of Stage 3'ing my T5 and the clutch decided to drop a deuce. But overall, he's been great to deal with and I would highly recommend.

      Stealing my thread back, lol.

Did a bunch of work on the car recently. Replaced the throttle body after an ETM failure left me stranded on I495 in the raid. Last week I replaced the shot upper torque mount with a poly Powerflex bushing and replaced the stock intake pipe with a larger pipe with silicone connectors. This past weekend, I also replaced the timing belt (idler, tensioner), water pump, OEM sparkplugs, and air filter with a BMC unit, along with an oil change. I did a "Brett Borders" airbox mod where I put a clear piece of plastic behind a cut-out in the airbox lid to show off the new filter. It looks good, but I'm not ready to post pictures just yet, still need to clean it up a bit to make it perfect.

In the somewhat near future, I'll be rebuilding the K24 turbo as it is burning oil like I might've mentioned previously. If anyone has any recommendations on either upgrades or shops to balance the turbo either in the New England area (preferably near Amherst, MA or the north shore) that'd be much appreciated. I'm trying to decide if I want the low-end gains of a 6-6 or 11-blade upgrade for the stock housing.

      Thanks!

Great work so far. All of that engine related maintenance should net you many many trouble free miles in the coming future.

I would go ahead and replace all the engine mounts if you haven't already. I also plan to replace my subframe bushings with Delrin as they are on their way out. I have read that delrin subframe bushings help a lot with regards to turn in sharpness and steering feel, so excited for that. Definitely skip the upper poly upper engine mount - does little and just ends up transmitting a ton of vibration to the cabin/steering wheel.

I don't have any recommendations for shops for your K24 rebuild, but power higher in the rev range may make more sense. Being only FWD with an open diff, the power is hard enough to put down as is. More low down torque may not make much of a difference in overall performance if you can't put that power down.

Theres a lot of capable Turbo shops that can help with a K24 upgrade. I sent mine off to G-pop shop. They've done well with our Subaru turbos so I went with them. Ported/Polished, New turbine, 7 Blade bigger wheel from Viva. Bigger injectors, DW fuel pump..Anyhow point is, mines a 2wd also . It pulls like a freight train, does have some torque steer, but with good tires It puts MOST of the power down

Seeing where this is headed, I'm gonna stay out of this other than to say most turbo shops are a joke.

I have seriously considered replacing the K24 on my S60 with a 19T because I know I can get good TD04 stuff at great prices. For now I am just going to ride out my original K24 and hope some better options come along before I have no choice but to do something about it.

Nick charges a lot for Gpop to build turbos for him to put a tag on. If I was marking up stuff that much for doing almost nothing Iíd at least take their business cards out of the packaging before re-shipping it .

$500 for a full rebuild, $1k for a hybrid direct from the source.

Majestic in TX is also a KKK builder and their pricing is inline.

Interesting. Wouldnít gathering the oil and coolant lines as well as modifying your down pipe outweigh the costs to just rebuilding the K24? Iíd imagine a fresh K24 would easily make it another 75-100k miles before needing a refresh again.

Iím more-so interested in a local shop that could balance the wheel for me. I have no problem actually disassembling the turbo and replacing the seals, I just canít balance it obviously. Sorry if I was unclear about that.

No theyíre super cheap and readily available cause itís a TD04 and the downpipe is the same all angle flange turbos.
