      S60r turbo boost rpm late

      Hi,

I would like to ask you guys at what rpm do you feel the turbo boost to engage.

After a camshaft belt change at 88.000km (50k miles), it feels to me as if the turbo boost is engaging too late - like around 3000 rpm.
I own my S60r now over 13 years and I would swear I felt significant power increase around 2000rpm. Overall, when it hits 3500rp, the power seems to be adequate.

Many thanks for any information or hints.

If the problem occurs after a timing belt change, check if the position of the camshafts and crankshaft is correct. Fault codes will be present in the ECM if the belt is not in its right position.

Inlet and exhaust camshaft adaptation values in VIDA will tell if camshafts are set correctly.

Thank you all for the inputs, I will do the check as suggested and let you know. The CEL however does not come up.

Just to be sure, there actually is any kind of failure - you guys who drive non-modified Rs (whether 60 or 70) feel the turbo boost power engaging sooner than between 2500-3000rpm?
I know it sounds funny, I 100% dont know my car after 13 years, its just as I am getting older, I drive mostly the Volvo-style rather than the R-style

      Many thanks again

      Hi all,

      reporting the ECM fault codes:
1st try - engine off, key in ON position: no fault codes
2nd try - engine running, fault codes:
ECM-644A which seems to be directly related to the camshaft
+ other code (I forgot), but was related with exhaust - so seems exactly as contrast and other guys here anticipated
*CEL still not on (the light itself is working)

I will check the forums on correct belt installation, because I double checked the belt and it seems to be exactly according to the manual. Will update.

      Many thanks

      Final report:
timing belt position corrected by one "tooth". Everything works as it should now.
