Polestar has partnered with Plugsurfing in Europe to try to simplify charging as much as possible. The service will come standard with every Polestar and includes an RFID tag that allows owners to charge at more than 195,000 charging points with a single account.
The problem with charging is that often, annoyingly, requires you to set up an account and feed money into that account before you can pay for the electricity. With a couple of companies vying for your money, that mean there are several accounts to sign up for. In Europe, where countries like Norway and Sweden have their own currencies, the problem is only further inflated.
Plugsurfing will, according to Polestar, simplify things by only requiring you to sign up for one account and giving you access to charging points in Belgium, Germany, the Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, Switzerland, and the UK.
“This international European partnership with Plugsurfing is the first of these solutions and it paves the way for more partnerships which will also include national and local solutions,” comments Thomas Ingenlath, CEO of Polestar.
The Google Maps app embedded into the Polestar 2’s infotainment system is also optimized to find compatible charging stations for its customers.
