Plastic clip on driver side window

Our new 2020 XC60 T8 has a clear plastic clip on the driver side on the inside of the window near the bottom of the dash.

Do all XC60ís have this? My S90 T8 never had this.

It appears to be used for putting parking passes, etc behind the window.

      Thanks!

Apparently this has been re-added in 2020 or 2019. For a while they weren't including it but we have, and use it, in our 2001 V70.

      It was re-added for 2020. 2019 didn't have it.

You can add it to the 2019, however. (I have). Part # 8616658

Thank you all. My sales rep said we could remove it by breaking it off. Itís connected behind the pilar. Iím definitely not doing that!

If you don't like it (seriously? It's part of the Volvo DNA, as far as I'm concerned) then it can be safely and reversibly removed without damaging anything, rather easily. Simply take out the 1 bolt (either 8mm or 10mm) holding the A pillar trim (behind the SRS Airbag square plastic piece) and pull the trim towards the center of the dashboard -- it pops right out. Then the clip can be popped out of the trim.

May be easy if you dontít worry about blowing up an airbag. I tried it, and quickly realized it was more than I wanted to risk, So itís staying put!

IMO it is better located at top left corner, abd leave better view around A pillar.

Agree 100%. The clip is a great idea, but it’s positioned where most state inspection/registration stickers are supposed to be placed.

I thought state stickers go along the top edge too, though I am in a state doesn't use inspection sticker on window.

It depends on the state. Some are in the lower right corner, others behind the rear view mirror and others in the lower left corner.

States need to modernize and just get rid of stickers. They serve no practical purpose now that every law enforcement agency has laptops and network connectivity in their cruisers.

Even the registration stickers we attach to our license plates should go away, imo.

Only way I see inspection stickers disappearing is if it is tied to license plate renewal/registration.

In the UK we no longer display tax discs since the police can just check you out on the computer now.

Is there a state that doesn't tie the inspection to the VIN/registration/renewal?

In my state they won't even let me pay my registration renewal, each year, unless I have an inspection that passed in the last 90 days. And it's all electronic... They KNOW if the inspection was done.

For the safety inspection ó Virginia. You are required to have the inspection, but it is not reported to DMV.

The emissions inspection result is communicated to DMV.
