      Wheel time! FC04A 18x8 or 18x9?

This has been bandied about, but with no definitive answer I could find.

EST guys rec'd these wheels if going 17": https://www.eurosporttuning.com/fc04...per-wheel.html

buuut now I think I'm going with 18's for summer and I'll keep the stock 17" pegs for winters.
There are three different 18" FC04a wheels available, here:
      https://www.eurosporttuning.com/fc04...per-wheel.html
      https://www.eurosporttuning.com/fc04...per-wheel.html
      https://www.eurosporttuning.com/fc04...per-wheel.html

      Specs for all:
      17x8: 17x8 +35 offset
      Wheel Size Offset
      Stock 17" Pegs 17x8 +46mm
      FC04A 17x8 +35mm
      Stock 18" Pegs 18x8 +46mm
      FC04A 18x8 +30mm
      FC04A 18x8 +40mm
      FC04A 18x9 +30mm

So question time: +40 vs +30 offset for the FC04A's, 18x8 vs 18x9, which is closer to stock 18" wheels? Would the 18x9s even fit? Has anyone run any of 'em?
This is the look I'm going for:

I'm leaning toward the 18x8 +30 FC04A's with 235/40/18 Zlines to avoid rub/keep an accurate speedo bc that's (I think) closest to stockish. Thoughts?

I have the 19x8.5, I'll have to check the offset but in terms of speed accuracy my speedo has matched the road radars almost perfectly. I would still like the space the rears a little if I felt like dealing with the rolling of fenders

I've been very happy running the FC04A's in 17"x8.0 +35 on my T5. R Brembo swapped so everything fits nicely. I'm in the Central NJ/NYC area, so not far from you, and the roads are just terrible so having more meat on the tires was a must for me. Running 235/45R17 Continental DW tires. I do understand the want to go with 18" wheels though.

      For some measurement numbers:

For my setup with the 17x8 +35, I think a 5mm spacer would be conservatively flush fit to the P2 body. I have only the slightest rubbing at full lock, but comparing to an 18" wheel+tire combo will be different.

If you're looking for a good overall fitment with the OE fenders, then 18x8 +30 may be a good choice.
If you're looking to push the limits of flush fitment or even a tucked look, then 18x8 +40 may be a better choice so you can try different spacers (~10mm to 20mm) to get the desired look. I'm not sure that the 18x8 +40 wheel will fit without spacers though as my 17x8 +35 wheels just barely clear the calipers.

Those 17s honestly look great, that was my plan up until recently....would be cheaper and lighter weight too

18x8 with 40mm, no rub and they look great.

Tires are also quite a bit cheaper by ~$100/set, but I completely understand the want to go with 18's, especially if you're going to be spending $ on these anyway. If I keep my car long enough for another set of summer tires, I will probably go with the 18" route for the summer set, and keep the FC04A's in 17 for the winter set.

My only concern is the ride quality since the roads aren't actually that great around me.... But I mean, they're not terrible either
