Man, if these were available with any other engine but the 3.2, they would've been awesome. Imagine this with a T6 or a 2.3 T5. Ahh

      For sure!
I've got a lead on a good T6 motor with ~70-80k miles (I forget) and great compression. Shipped to my door for about the same cost.

This First shop (reputable Indy volvo shop in Seattle proper) quoted ballpark 3.5-4k install my motor. I emailed the mechanic who recharged my ac to get a quote and will start calling local shops tomorrow.

Honestly, If this shop had told me sub 2k for labor (of course some peripherals and fluids added to it) I would have ordered the motor today and paid for the work.

We're trying to play all the cards here, whether it's fix and sell or fix and keep, weighing options.

I have come to terms that I screwed up and I don't have the current skill set to do a head gasket job or modern motor swap.

Yeah, but look at what I did to get here.....

Do you have to drop the subframe/motor on a P3? or can you pull out the front? I just assumed you needed a lift to drop everything and I don't feel like doing that in the garage.

Only motor swap I've been involved in was from a '78 camaro into a 69 El Camino, and that was, hell, 1997 time frame.

I have zero free time until mid August and can't dedicate myself or even my brain to this project, I'd love to do my own motor swap, but I also am interested in paying someone to get it done, right, faster (and hopefully somewhat economical still)

Website says theft reported? Does that mean currently, or at one point in its life? Donít think a dealer would be openly selling an actively stolen car lol.
Looks very good apart from that one thing. Magnus, what are your thoughts? Potential candidate?

Edit: a nice set of Bors or some SPA wheels would really liven it up, for example:

Dunno what the most efficient way to go about it would be with a P3; never taken one apart. I like to drop the subrframe out the bottom on 850s but part of that has to do with the fact that the way the crash bar is built makes them really easy to pick up that way without a lift. Not sure I would use the same approach even with a x70.

Yeah time is the other side of it. Time is not generally at a premium for me and, being that my cars generate very little economic value, I can't justify paying people to work on them for me.

Curious as to how many hours are involved, but then NW labor rates are probably a little higher. Maybe you can get this done (motor and labor) for under $3k. Most of us here don't have the time nor the expertise to do this kind of work.

He did ask about a theft vehicle a page or so up so the assumption is that he's already looking at this one. I've seen these pictures before - I think this one has been for sale for awhile now.

Right, saw that just now, I mustíve missed it before - his question still stands though: howís bad is it if it says a car was previously stolen? Does that affect your ownership in any way? Insurance? Etc.

I would think as long as it had clear title and was not a total loss by an insurance company you should be okay, aside from any damage that may have occurred during the four days it was stolen - I looked at the carfax.

I have a friend who is going to look at it for me in a day or two.

I researched about it and talked with my parents who are Lawyers and it seems the only negative/benefit is the resale price is way lower.
We shall see if it is any good.

Guessing it's because of miles but the ad indicates it's in 'fair' condition so maybe there are some things that are not showing up in the pics.

Did they seriously just buy this VR from BAT and now are trying to flip it?

      What the...Volvo dealer too

      Capturedwd.jpg

Same Vin too so it is the same car.

Nobody in their right mind should even consider paying that much. Ridiculous. Sure, low miles, sure, good condition, but seriously. Way too much.

I found the same listing like a week ago actually. Not the first time that dealer sourced a V70R from BAT. That dealer isn't winning brownie points for sure

      Oh okay, that is interesting.

Perhaps there is a reason they took a while listing it not "locally".

      Weird...

Watch a possible buyer google that Vin and find the BAT listing they won for $6K less and end all contact with them
Kind of scummy but oh well.

My issue with that S80 is the fact it has the ultra rare Dynamic Chassis option.

While that should be a positive, I actually really enjoyed the Steering stiffness option on the 2010 I test drove.
      Not a big deal though.

(The option took away that sensitivity controller.)

A bit off topic, but is it weird that Iíve only ever seen one (1) normal P3 V60, but around 5-6 different V60 Polestars in my area?
      3 Blue: (2 2017, 1 2018)
      1 White: (2016)
      1 Black: (2017)
1 White (SPA, and in dealer, so doesnít really count lol).

If I recall the 00 XC should have the 4 speed. 00R had the fragile 5 speed auto

There was a sonic blue V70R auto that was auctioned for charity but didn't meet reserve, and they somehow tracked it down and had that shipped to them for sale. I think I still have emails with one of the sales at the dealership over that one lol

To me that's like doubling down on potential issues. How long would it take to get your XC60 fixed - a couple weeks maybe? Not worth buying another car for but that's just me and I can come up with almost any justification for buying cars, lol.

Fix will be 1-4 weeks depending on what the path is, and shop schedules.

Oh we've already discussed what kind of financial hit it is to fix this and walk away lol. It was not the perfect choice but was supposed to be a ride for a few years. I don't want a new payment, honestly just want a car to work. And if that means an older ride with less tech, I'm absolutely fine with that....

But I found a new shop with extensive volvo history that may have a much better solution, but won't be able to drop it off until next week.

I'd like to fix it and drive the piss out of it to get my $ worth though, I find zero joy today in car shopping today.
