Dropping my car off at a specialist Monday, initial suspicion is head gasket on my bastard XC60.

I'm actually pretty messed up by this, angry/frustrated/saddened.

Hoping they can fix it (a few other shops won't do head gaskets) or I buy a low mile used motor. But I'm obviously over my head and don't have time to keep trying at the moment

Well the short answer is I'm an idiot.
Didn't seat the lower rad hose quick fitting right and dumped the coolant and it got hot.

Now I'm getting repeat misfires that don't move with plug/coil.
Low coolant temp is also indicating that my Stat is toast, but cyl 3/4 misfiring after parking overnight is a bad sign.

Best case scenario they tell me the failed Stat is somehow causing the motor to run wrong, but I doubt it.

They're going to first test it out and then give me a diagnosis to then decide to move forward with. I'm at the point where I don't want to drop a few hundred more on parts until I get a professional opinion.

I agree completely. I'm in a bad mood today for several BIG-ASSED reasons and I don't foresee an improvement through the holiday weekend and longer.

+1. Sorry to hear about the escalation of things!

Not sure if you were ever into Flight of the Conchords television show but it's kinda turning into a "coffee mug" issue.

Yup. One of those weeks. Trying to stay positive.

The good, despite the 'rona & our move to the epicenter of Seattle in March, my job offer remained and as of yesterday I got my placement company contract bought out by the company I work for, so I'm super grateful for that. Both wifey & I have good jobs despite the chaos.

So the XC will be out of commission for a while. My 164e needs work too but should be fine for grocery runs every week, I am working at home so no commute.

I'm not at all dreaming of trading the XC into a dealer for a wagon lol

This is the one that has the twin-turbo V6 right?
First thing to do (after potential repairs) would definitely be a tune or something to wake it up - takes around 8 seconds to get to 60, right? Really like Ďem regardless.

(How does that compare to the P2 S80 T6?)

Yes. That would qualify as a bad decision, LOL. A while back there was someone up in Wisconsin that was selling a beautifully modded C5 Allroad, and I was extremely tempted at the time. This was maybe 2017/2018. But my understanding of the list of maintenance items on these makes the P2Rís look downright simple to address.

Well I've gotten familiar with pulling the front off a car lately.....

For sure the maintenance is intense, I test drove a RS5 or some crazy V8 audi beast years ago and had a coworker with one, the standard maintenance was bonkers.

I'm most likely not buying anything, will roll the classic as needed until I get a diagnosis on the XC.

But damn, I am so freaking mad at myself, I turn 40 in August and been playing with cars since 15. Never had a situation grenade like this. And this month is all about my ultra running hobby, so, f it. Life.

Might be too rough to bring back, but seem complete and worth a bit in parts.

Odo must be broke. Since trip is at 00000..
I won't kick her out of bed. I been with rougher ones. Just some time and money. But everything is close to be there. Bumper and wheels intacted. Motor still in the engine bay. Check. Seats still there. Check.

Not a big fan of the gold but I agree. Itís pretty nice for that money and itís a drivable distance for me.

Beer goggles will do wonders for your vision.
I agree this is worth saving, though. It does look mostly there.

No beer goggles for me, LOL. I did have a Lagunitas "Little Sumpin' Sumpin'" earlier in the evening, but not enough to see bleary-eyed.

Yeah, that was my thought and why I added the "?" mark after the mileage, but then I noticed that many of the trips were pushed to 0 even when they listed the mileage as accurate. So, who knows?

Confusing listing with only one photo (with two Volvo's in the picture) and no details.
