      How Cold is your A/C?

      Hey Guys,

We have been having several 30'-35' C plus days and I have noticed the A/C does not get really cold? Is this normal or should I take it into the shop for them to have a look?

As a comparison, we also have a 2020 Hyundai Palisade and the air coming from the A/C when set to 22' is very cold.

      Thanks.....

You should be able to register 21C out of the air vents when it's 40C outside, afaik.

That said, it's been my experience that Volvo AC has never been "great". Mine certainly does the job, but going back to my first 850 in the early 90's, other brands have always had better AC. My wife's car, for example, has noticeably colder AC. It can be 40C+ outside and her AC will give you frostbite on your hands.

Now the heater, on the other hand.... Volvo heaters could restart a dead star.

I noticed this a long time ago and what is even more interesting is that Volvo does not offer a system for hot countries , such as the Middle East (40'-50' C ) or Africa, but has the same system for all countries.

I just drive mine across the Utah and Mojave deserts for ten days. It was 110 degrees most days, with like zero humidity. I was comfy with the a/c. I didn't measure the temp coming out but I have no complaints.

It's been 39 - 41C here and the HVAC in my T8 is ice cold. I usually leave it at 74F (AUTO, ECO) and my significant other directs her vents away (too cold).

I've noticed the T6/T5 loaners I've driven have to turned down to 70 - 72F (non-ECO) to get similar cooling performance. I assume it's a difference in programming (electric vs ICE-driven compressor).

I think eco can only be enabled in a driver profile?

Excellent point! This evening I was out and had the driving mode set to the default comfort mode and the air was nice and cold. Come to think of it the last time I drove in the 35C weather I’m pretty sure I was in eco mode which would explain it.

      I will test this again....

      Thanks for the tip!

When you select Pure (I don't know what non T8 equivalent Drive mode for Pure is. Eco?) Or when you've enabled eco on Individual drive

Same here, although we've only had it up to 32-34°C lately. Ice cold.

Check the auto fan speed, it'll go to 5 but likes to be 3. It'll get loud on 5 but it'll do a better job.

I find that on a 90 degree day, ECO mode is useless.
