Service Light Reset Procedure for 99-2000 Cars?

Hey all,

I've read that the 98 model years need a special tool to reset this light but that on 99-00 cars you can do it yourself.

I can't seem to find the procedure though.

It doesn't bother me much, but I want to reset it before my inspection just in case the tech mistakes it for a check engine light or something.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

You can do it using an old laptop running XP (maybe even in a VM, who knows), a VAG OBD-II cable, and a copy of VOL-FCR. There's a tiny bit of driver setup involved for the cable in Windows XP but once done I've never needed to mess with it again. If you want, I can try and give an image of the software to you as well.

Pulling the bulb is the correct answer.

Vol FCR doesn't connect to anything 99+

That's the "Do Not Boost (Until the Engine Warms Up)" light! ?
or just use the temp gauge?

That’s odd, I remember it having an option for ME7 cars to reset the service light, I must be having a “Mandela effect” moment.
