      Loaner cars

My first service is coming up , booked an appointment with loaner car. I might need to go on a 350 miles (round) trip drive, Is there a restriction on number of miles / day?

depends on dealer, probably will not have a problem with it but i would call to make sure they can accommodate your plans especially as the first service is not a big one

      Loaner cars

      +1 ^

My dealer has a 24-hour return policy from completion although the service advisor can provide some leeway. My dealer does not have a mileage limit. A caveat is that an owner who is taking the loaner will have the services de-prioritized over those who are waiting. YMMV.

A 10K Service and software upgrade do not typically take much time unless there are known issues or discovered issues. FWIW.

My Dealer only requires that the fuel level be the same as when you took it, ask questions

Yeah just confirm ahead of time - you should be fine. They usually roll loaners on/off after a certain time... they don't really track the miles that closely for each customer that uses it.

I feel like the bigger risk for you is learning about some stupid interstate travel restriction due to COVID and getting hosed trying to do your round trip.

I’ve done close to 400 miles in a loaner. No worries. I’ve taken them skiing for the day too.

I learned from Ferris Bueller that you can drive a car in reverse to un-do some of the mileage on the odometer.

Not to mention learning the dangers of a single point jack.

Unless your time is very tight I wouldn't bother. My first service took only about an hour and a half.

+1, particularly if that 1 1/2 hours also includes the software module updates.

FWIW, back in the olden’ days with SPA MY16s , software updates could take up to 3 hours - waiting on a bay with network access and big updates.

If the dealer has the new WiFi infrastructure, hopefully there is no need to wait on a software update bay, plus updates should be faster.

Give em a heads up and it shouldn't be a problem. Letting them know ahead of time might help them out... We sometimes have a car in the loaner fleet we want to put miles on in order to deliver it sooner to a customer who put a deposit on it. I had two this month I needed to get some miles on. (and for what it's worth, one was an XC90 Inscription... so it's not always a cheapy!)
