      Dashboard with Polestar Question

I have a 2020 S90 R-Design that was delivered with Polestar software optimization. I rarely use different drive modes, but I was playing around with it the other day and noticed nothing changed on the dash when I selected the Polestar option. Is that normal? I thought it was supposed to change to red. When I select
Eco, the dash changes, but it is the same for all other modes.

Selecting Polestar doesn’t change the dash design, but I do think it says “Polestar Optimization” in small letters by the transmission info in the middle of the tachometer when you choose this mode.

The dash design (style / color change) you speak of does not appear on my 2019 V90 RD, but it did on my previous 2015 V60.

      Hope this helps,

Maybe it's unique to the 60 series? I will have to look into it

The “Dynamic” drive mode displayed in the dash when selected is replaced with “Polestar”

My '19 V90 is Polestar-optimized, however, when I select Dynamic drive mode, only 'Dynamic' is displayed in the dash. I gather there was to have been a Polestar update done before I took delivery 2 months ago - is there an easy way to determine if in fact the update was done?

If your Sensus software was updated, you should see “Dynamic” replaced by “Polestar”.

If you picked up your car just 2 months ago - it should have already had the updated software that would show “Polestar” - it was two updates ago that this change was made.

You might want to ask your dealer about this.

The dealer told me the software was updated but the dash still only shows “Dynamic”. There was an ‘18 V90 that had the update, and when you selected the drive mode it showed “Polestar” rather than Dynamic in the main screen. Is there a way of determining in the car if the update was done? Thanks.

When I first got my '18 V90 about a year ago, it was also showing dynamic on the dash. I had been reading about how the latest sensus update changed this and went back and forth with the dealer to update it. they swore up and down that it was up to date, and that I must have been mistaken.

Well about 2 months later, I had an issue where I needed to go into the dealer for a warranty repair, and I went to a different dealer. They updated the software as part of the visit, and it showed "polestar" instead of Dynamic on the dash.

So yes, your software is out of date.

Either your dealer is mistaken and you’re still on an older version of the Software or your software is up to date and Polestar Optimization was not installed.

The million dollar question is.... how does it feel?
There's is a 'night and day' difference in the throttle response and shift timing between Dynamic and Polestar modes (if done properly).

Sounds like you need the Sensus 2.0 update loaded by your dealer.

Yes, the combination of Polestar and the Sensus 2.0 update adds more power distribution to the rear wheels when in sport mode “Polestar” among other things.

Thanks all, I plan to put a call into the dealer service manager to get him to check his records.

I rarely use the Polestar drive mode because I find it annoying that the car holds the gears just too long. It should shift quicker but also upshift at some point. Mine just sits in the low gear too long.

As for the gauges, I found the option in the settings menu, you have the option for minimalistic, glass, chrome, and performance. I switched to minimalistic, too much clutter on the dash stresses me out.

Agreed. The Dynamic (aka Polestar) mode is frankly quite annoying with gear selections. It ruins the daily driving experience. The “S” mode on my S4 for performance gearing is perfect, whereas this is not.
