      'Special Edition' Volvo Cosmetic Packages

Even though I purchased our CPO XC90 few months ago, I still have a tendency to shop our local dealers to check prices/availability. Anyway, decided to look at new XC90 prices and came across these post-purchase cosmetic packages offered by a local dealer. The McGrath Midnight Edition caught my eye for sure - except for the side fender emblems. What do you all think?

Minus a few details that don’t appeal to me, the word I’d use starts with DO and ends with PE.

Glad to see a dealership offering these custom options, looks affordable except for the red strip option.

A Bursting Blue T8 seems pretty rare as-is. I do not like fake ///M stripes on the grills. Save that siht for the Germans.

I've seen two of the midnight editions around town. The grille stripes need to go but the rest looks ok to me.
That being said $4k for what they're doing can be done for under $1k.

Blackening of chrome (Dechroming) for R Design looks great though.

So, this dealership is only interested in providing specials for R Design and not others? Seeing the obsession with the moose and stripes on the grille, I guess there isn't much the dealership can do for Inscription and Momentum other than Volvo provided accessories.

Parking a car in the middle of an active railroad crossing for a photo shoot? Who thought that was a good idea? Bad image by a retailer for a safety conscious manufacturer.

Not with railroad crossing gates and lights. Come to think of it, I wonder if that photo shoot might have also been illegal?

I like driving the Volvo because it's below most people's radar. If I wanted to show off I'd be in another car instead of purchasing these packages.

A bit spendy but cool. From a historic perspective there have been lots of dealers that offered such mods and they can be sought after... but not meaning to say this is any sort of investment... They should at least all have the polestar upgrade to go with the look. I've always liked offset stripes, tying it in with the grill is a neat touch I've not seen.

I kind of like it. I mean, it's not my cup of tea (I would never spend any money to improve the OUTSIDE of my car... I mean... to each their own, but I am sitting INSIDE). But I like the stripes+moose. I am seeing it as a bit of a parody. Even Volvo owners can be as crass as BMW drivers! But this whole trend is... very... how can I put it... Chinese? Big grills, colored stripes, and illuminated stars. We just need a painting with a fake illuminated water fountain and some water sounds behind the second row, separating the cabin from the trunk, then we can claim the mission is accomplished!
