      Shifter Knob for 2012 S60

I replaced mine a few years ago:

      50489113933_ff52187a86_o_d.jpg

It matched beautifully with the beige interior but now it started showing ugly signs of wear so I want to replace it. It is available in Amazon though for over $100, so I'm not paying that...

I'm not interested in replacing the whole shifter assembly (as suggested in so many threads here) but just the knob.

Anyone here changed theirs in the line of what I have above? There are tons of generic shifters out there but I have no clue which one would actually fit.

The issue is that you need to buy a knob that will still engage the button to be able to shift out of park. The only one I know of as an aftermarket replacement is the Heico one, which is going to cost about the same.

I replaced the OEM with the Hieco knob very shortly after I bought the car. It did feel and look much nicer than OEM. You had to push down to engage the button action.
Just looked at their website and they no longer list it.
I sold it after I upgraded to the new shifter assembly. It is a well made piece.

I went from the stock shifter knob on my '11 S60 to the newer style Shift knob and leather boot. Pretty simple and no need for a shifter assembly but I do have one to install someday. Only difference is my current shifter flops to Right for manual mode vs Left with new style.

What do you mean "no need for a shifter assembly"? I don't mind having this setup (I would need to get use the shift to the right) but I thought you need to swap the whole shifter assembly.

You can replace the top plate and shift knob with the boot and updated knob with a bit of part swapping off your existing assembly. It's not too difficult. You would still need to source a shift boot and knob...if interested, I actually have a 2013 boot and knob available from a previous swap out. PM me.

I'd probably sound picky but I'd prefer the same color scheme. I assume the "boot" is black? I still have the original black knob and at this point it actually might look better than the worn out beige I have on now.

I'm just surprised that there's a cheaper generic one available out there. There's plenty on ebay that sell for like $15-20 and if they only worked on Volvo... the cheapest OEM knob I found is about $119 and that's just incredible!

You have a nice car - it's worth more than a $20 shift knob, lol.

You just have to remove the a few things

      Until it looks like this

      Then install boot

      Sport Mode

I did not hook up the LED lighting in the new knob but I could if I wanted to.

      I appreciate it Oceans60R!

So shifting is the same as originally? Meaning regular is on the left and "manual" is to the right?

Correct. I believe all the boots are black. The variations are perforated leather and contrast stiching for R-Design models.

The OCD person would focus on the shift pattern on the knob being opposite actual if you just changed the knob, lol.

Correct, the only difference is appearance.
