Change Log
Dec 2016
  • Added Full LED Conversion Thread by theshadow27 to both Exterior and Interior Lighting sections

Sept 2016
  • Added 'How To' for Drive Axles and Hub Guide
  • Added DRL Load Resister for LED Bulbs
  • Fixed Fuel Sensor Link
  • Added Trav R's S60R

This is a work in progress. After breaking it up, some sections look a little lacking. This is good and bad, I need some volunteers and helpers to populate some of these sections. I can't remember and neither have I read all the topics and interesting threads out there.-DevolvR

Hi. Newbie here, links for part numbers/ tech manual partial are 404. Do you have links or knowledge of where I can get full parts lists/specs and full repair manual for v70r 2004?

DevolvR: Fixed. No, unfortunately I don't. Try posting a thread asking if anyone has information regarding this. As for a Parts catalog, Tasca Parts Online may be one of the most extensive parts/price lists available. http://www.tascaparts.com/

VIDA is what you're looking for... Which has the repair manual and parts catalog - though Tasca is more accessible for parts and obviously you can see prices there.

Is there a thread somewhere here about replacing the TF-80SC valve body?

#16 ·
Well. The part/serial number should be on it, that's hard to see though. The Rs i believe all have the same Turbo stock. With the only difference being the v-clamp that connects the turbo to the OTE pipe.

S60R / V70R Modification & Repair Index

Submitting this here because I couldn't find a comprehensive write-up and since the R sub is more active.

I put my sport kit side skirts on a couple days ago in about 2 hours, I was able to re-use most of the clips and substitute with some of my spare junkyard clips but if you can't here's what you'll need:

- rivets for the wheel wells: oem is 10mm head with 6mm shaft (before expanding)
- Push pin retainers for the undercarriage
- Either round or rectangle retainers for the sills

For tools I used:
- H4 hex bit to disengage the plastic push pin rivets securing the undercarriage
- flat pry bar to remove the metal rivets in the wheel well (and to extract the plastic push rivets) since I don't have whatever tool removes rivets
- T25 to secure the wheel well ends with some interior screws from my junk yard stash since I didn't have big enough rivets to replace the originals

Removing the stock rocker panels:

Pop these bad boys off by hammering the H4 into the center to disengage the pin and the claw end of the hammer to pinch and yank them out.

For the pins that I pushed too far and got stuck in the metal of the car (you'll know what I mean when you're down there) I used tiny drill bits to poke around inside and drag the pin out of the hole.

Pry and pry again, the front ends have 1 on the side and 1 on the bottom, rears have 2 on the side and 1 on the bottom. My 04 skirts did not have the bottom hole for the mud flap / wheel well liner to anchor to so I didn't add one, so far nothing has fallen off.

Installing the sport kit skirts:

Not sure about the 05-07, but my 04 skirts each only needed 2 door/trim fasteners (front and rear), and a peg attached to the skirt slotted into one of the holes beneath the b-pillar to hold it in place while you shove the skirts onto the fasteners (or attach the fasteners to the skirts and just pop the whole thing in).

Since I was able to re-use the push pin fasteners I placed 5 underneath on each side. There are holes for 8 but really 3 was enough to feel secure.

Now since I didn't have rivets big enough to fill the holes to secure the ends of the skirts to the mud flaps / wheel wells, I used T25 interior screws, I had a ton left over from my dash/center console swap and these did the trick with no wiggle play or shifting. Another benefit of using the screws was that I didn't need to take any wheels off for the install, I just used the bit stuck in the little socket adapter and turned by hand.

Hello, At my request my mechanic just moved a manual 6 speed m66 from a 2004 v70r (with significan frame rust) to nice 2006 v70r that was auto. All is well and functioning except the 5th and 6th gear slots are not quite all the way to the right as they shoud be, and were on the 2004. It is as if the gear stick is permitted to move too far to the right, and therefore misses the verticle line for 5th or 6th gear. Reverse is fine.

The full gear stick housing with cables was moved from the 2004. Any suggestions as to the likely issue? My mechanic has seen this before but does not have a solution. He wondered if the car frame mounting position has slight differences where he bolts the gear stick housing to?

Once this is resolved I will look at a free-er flowing exhaust and a basic stage 2 tune.. just trying to add a little more zip tommy daily driver.
Thank you

Hello,

You may have better luck starting a new thread. If you are trying to find 5th and 6th while stationary, this is completely normal. There is a reverse lockout on the manuals that activates at a certain speed (15MPG IIRC), so above that speed you can push the gear stick all the way to the right, and it will block going into reverse and be perfectly lined up to go into 5th or 6th. Finding 5th or 6th without the reverse lockout activated can be pretty tough.

If this is happening while you're moving, I would suggest trouble shooting the lockout and/or adjusting the shifter cables.

Thank you. It is while moving where this happens but I will try stationary as well to check.

I wonder if the housing mount points are slightly differently positioned in newer cars.

Will look into cable adjustments next. Thank you..and I will report back
