No more Rs and no more S60s?!?

      http://www.leftlanenews.com/20...-v70r/

this article discusses the possibility of no S60 and no more Rs.... How likely is this? It seems like a bad idea to have such a big hole between the S40 and S80 price- and size-wise.... And no Rs?!? There need to be more and more powerfuls R models to be competitive...

      woe is me...

It is not a market that Ford will spend the $$$ to play in. A limited production/heavily subsidized vehicle is not a wise use of precious cash. This has been beaten to death in many posts. Here's the latest:

.. Jesus people, that old rumor about the S60 being phased out is still going around?

Ford has also been shopping Jaguar around. No takers yet, but Hyundai did their due diligence and politely declined...

The new S80 is smaller, priced in the S60 range, and comes with a 300+HP V8 in AWD. The new V70 looks to be an S80 wagon. How could they justify the 60 series at this point? Seems to me that the "old" 80 and 60 (which had marginal or dwindling sales) have merged into the new 80. I don't understand giving the V70 a T5 and T6 though.

The new C70 is about the same size as the S60 and built on the Ford Focus platform, so I am sure a new S60 could be built on that same platform.

The C70 is essentially a 2-door S40 convertable. Why in the world would Volvo build another sedan on that chassis and call it a 60?

      Re: (dneal)

How is the s80 priced in the s60 or even the s60R range?
      I wish it were.
The one I test drove said $53000 on the sticker. In my opinion it was much nicer than the s60R, but not $10000 nicer.
